State Police are investigating a collision that killed a woman at Route 40 in Pilesgrove, NJ on August 31st, 2023. Police say the incident happened around 3:21 p.m. According to investigators, a Pontiac Bonneveille headed westbound on Route 40 was involved in a collision the a Mack dump truck. Officials allege the dump truck struck the rear of the Pontiac, pushing it into an an eastbound lane and into the path of an approaching Nissan Altima. The Altima also struck the Pontiac, leaving 73-year-old front seat Pontiac passenger, Jane String, with fatal injuries. The driver of the Pontiac, identified as 72-year-old Donald String, was hospitalized with suspected serious injuries. The Nissan operator had minor injuries, according to officials, who add the Mack truck driver allegedly did not report any injuries. Additional information was not available.
