What Happened

State Police are investigating a crash that killed a person at State Hwy 128 in Lea County, NM on September 7th, 2021. Police say the incident happened around 6:36 a.m. A Dodge Ram operated by 39-year-old Cleveland Jesse Godfrey was headed west on State Hwy 128 when it crossed into eastbound traffic. It then struck the side of a commercial truck before being struck by a GMC pickup truck. Godfrey and a passenger, 24-year-old Aaron Moreno, both died at the scene. An additional passenger, age 18, was hospitalized with undisclosed injuries. The truck driver suffered undisclosed injuries. Additional information was not immediately available.
