What Happened

State Police have identified the person killed in a crash at I-25 in Sierra County, NM on December 6th, 2021. They say the incident happened around 8:14 a.m. A Ford F-50 operated by 69-year-old Ernesto Olivas is said to have been headed southbound in a left travel lane when it merged into a right lane and collided with the commercial truck occupying the space. The impact sent the Ford into a guardrail before ejecting Olivas from the vehicle. Olivas was pronounced dead at the scene. A 66-year-old passenger was hospitalized with undisclosed injuries.
