What Happened

State Police are investigating a crash that killed a teen at US Hwy 54 in Otero County, NM on August 4th, 2021. Police say the incident happened around 11:30 a.m. A Mercedes sedan operated by a 15-year-old was headed south when it crossed a center line and collided head-on with a commercial truck. The driver was not wearing a seatbelt and died in the crash. A passenger and the driver of the truck were not injured.
