What Happened

North Carolina Highway Patrol officials are investigating a crash that killed a person at Camelia St and Central Ave in Lenoir County, NC on December 7th, 2021. Police say it happened around 7 a.m. A logging truck operated by 25-year-old Baron McNeil is accused of running a stop sign and colliding with a vehicle occupied by 45-year-old Shannon Sutton and 65-year-old Bernice Jernigan. Sutton suffered fatal injuries at the scene while Jernigan was hospitalized with undisclosed injuries. McNeil was also hospitalized with minor injuries and reports indicate he was charged with Death by Motor Vehicle and Failure to Stop at a Stop Sign.
