What Happened

State Police identified the person killed in collision on NC 71 near Scotland County, NC on December 15th, 2021. Police say the incident was responded to just after 7 a.m. Investigators believe that 50-year-old Shelly Romero was struck by a Waste Management dump truck after previously walking into the roadway. Romero died at the scene. The dump truck operator, 31-year-old Allen Cobb, was not injured and charges had not yet been filed. Additional information was not available.
