Authorities are investigating a crash that killed a person at Ohio Turnpike in Sandusky County, OH on July 22nd, 2024. Police say the incident happened around 9:50 a.m. According to investigators, a tractor-dump truck headed westbound on the turnpike is said to have veered from the road for unclear reasons into a concrete barrier. From there, reports say the vehicle enters into eastbound lanes, colliding with a Ford Escape, the Ford catching fire in the process. Police say the operator of the Ford, identified s 35-year-old Samantha Smith, was fatally injured. The truck operator, who was not publicly identified, was hospitalized with serious injuries, reports say. Additional information was not available.
