What Happened

Oklahoma Highway Patrol officials are investigating a crash that killed a driver at I-35 in Murray County, OK on July 12th, 2021. Police say the incident happened around 9 a.m. A dump truck operated by 66-year-old Enrique Martinez was parked in a shoulder as Martinez was outside the vehicle working on one of the tires. An approaching tractor-trailer is said to have then struck a side mirror on the dump truck, causing the tractor-trailer to swerve and run over Martinez's legs. After the impact, Martinez was dragged by the truck for an unknown distance before the truck eventually left the scene. Martinez was taken to an area hospital with serious injuries that he later died from. The tractor-trailer driver was later located and arrested on a charge of vehicular manslaughter.
