What Happened

Oklahoma Highway Patrol officials are investigating a crash that killed a woman at OK-76 in Carter County, OK on January 29th, 2022. Police say the incident happened around 10:24 a.m. A Ford F-150 with an attached trailer was being operated by 50-year-old David S. Hammock and heading southbound when the trailer detached and went into a northbound lane. A Chevrolet Sonic operated 56-year-old Gwendolyn Spellman was headed northbound at the time and collided with the trailer before veering from the road. She was taken to an area hospital with injuries she later died from. Her passenger, 56-year-old Gene Spellman, was also injured in the crash and hospitalized and later released. Hammock was uninjured. Additional information was not available.
