Area authorities are investigating a crash that killed five women at I-81 in Lackawanna County, PA on January 16th, 2024. Police say the incident happened around 5:30 p.m. According to investigators, a minivan was reported involved in a collision with a median. Following the collision, reports say the four women occupying the vehicle exited the vehicle and were standing nearby. A fifth woman who occupied a separate vehicle is said to have parked nearby and was with the other four as a tractor-trailer approached. Reports say the tractor-trailer struck the woman, all five suffering fatal injuries as a result. Authorities were not yet ready to provide more information regarding the crash.
