What Happened

Area authorities are investigating a crash that injured three people at US Hwy 81 in Freeman, SD on September 11th, 2021. Police say the incident happened around 1:38 p.m. A pickup truck pulling a horse trailer was reportedly attempting to pass a semi-truck that was slowing to make a turn. It then then collided head-on with a Corvette. The driver of the pickup truck, 28-year-old Jacob Langland, was hospitalized with serious injuries. The driver of the Corvette, 75-year-old Albert Wingate, was hospitalized with serious injuries. He died on September 18th. A passenger in the Corvette, 74-year-old Marilyn Wingate was also hospitalized with serious injuries. She passed away on September 20th.
