What Happened

Area authorities have charged a driver in connection with a collision that killed two people at Swinnea Road in Memphis, TN on June 2nd, 2022. Police say the incident involved a UPS truck and Mercury Marquis. The truck, operated by 45-year-old Davon McDonald, was reportedly turning from a private drive in a center turn lane to head northbound onto Swinnea Rd. The trailer attached to the truck had not fully cleared the southbound travel lanes when it was struck by a Mercury Marquis. The occupants of the Mercury, James Williams and Shinreca Brown, both died at the scene. McDonald was charged with failure to yield right of way causing serious injury and arrested.
