Knoxville Police identified the person killed in a crash at Alcoa Hwy in Knoxville, TN on July 12th, 2023. Police say the incident happened around 7:30 a.m. According to investigators, a FedEx truck was attempted to perform a lane change or merge when it struck a southbound passenger sedan. The impact caused the sedan to veer into a median and into the northbound lanes where it was then struck by an approaching SUV. The operator of the sedan, identified as 38-year-old Kimberly Mendes, suffered fatal injuries from the crash. The SUV operator was hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries.
