What Happened

Metro Nashville Police identified the woman killed in an accident at Third Ave and Symphony Place on October 3rd, 2021. Police say it happened around 7:30 p.m. 56-year-old Melinda Faye Lovelady was operating a Lime scooter when the scooter lost control and crossed into the rear tires of a semi-truck. After falling, Lovelady was struck and suffered fatal injuries. Investigators say alcohol was found her system, however, the amount was determined to be under the legal limit to operate a vehicle. The driver of the semi-truck was not injured or charged.
