What Happened

Tennessee Highway Patrol officials are investigating a crash that killed a man at I-840 in Rutherford County, TN on July 23rd, 2022. Police say the incident happened when an eastbound Ford Mustang suffered a mechanical issue with its transmission. Debris from that part of the vehicle scattered over the freeway, some going airborne and colliding with three vehicles. This created a crash between a Toyota Corolla and Infiniti Q70. Debris also struck a Nissan Rogue operated by 27-year-old Nathanial Perkins. Perkins suffered fatal injuries in the incident. Police say charges are pending against the Mustang operator.
