What Happened

Authorities have information on a crash that killed a teen at FM 1554 in Jim Wells County, TX on May 26th, 2023. Police say the incident happened around 12:49 a.m. According to investigators, a Ford F-250 operated by an 18-year-old San Diego, TX male was northbound on FM 1554 at the time. Police believe the vehicle left the roadway and traveled into a barrow ditch. While attempting to return to the roadway, they allege the vehicle overcorrected, crashing through a fence and into a group of bushes. From there, the vehicle is said to have overturned, killing 18-year-old passenger, Alexander Guerra. The driver has suspected minor injuries and authorities recommended and/or issued an Intoxication Manslaughter charge against the driver. Additional details were not provided.
