What Happened

Texas Department of Public Safety officials are investigating a crash that injured a person at Iowa Rd and Tower Rd in Hidalgo County, TX on November 5th, 2021. Police say the incident happened around 7:13 p.m. A Buick LeSabre operated by a 52-year-old San Juan man reportedly failed to yield the right of way at a stop sign and entered into an intersection as a GMC Yukon operated by 38-year-old Jose Cortina approached. The vehicles collided before the impact sent the LeSabre into a Hyundai Sonata operated by 23-year-old Amairany Ruiz. Ruiz suffered minor injuries, as did his 8-year-old passenger. Garcia and his passengers were all evaluated for possible injuries. The San Juan man, who responding officers allege showed signs of intoxication, was seriously injured.
