What Happened

Area authorities are investigating a crash that killed a woman at US 287 and FM 2393 in Clay County, TX on May 16th, 2022. Police say the incident happened around 11 p.m. According to investigators, a motorcycle operated by 21-year-old Cole Crowder reportedly lost control under unclear circumstances. Police are investigating claims that another vehicle began drifting toward the motorcycle, causing it to lose control. Once the bike lost control, both Crowder and a passenger, 20-year-old Amber Lynn Bennett, were ejected from the vehicle. Reports indicate both occupants did not have helmets on at the time of the incident. Bennett was struck by a vehicle upon ejection and suffered fatal injuries. Crowder was hospitalized with serious injuries. Additional information is currently investigation.
