What Happened

Area authorities are investigating a crash that injured two people at US 281 in San Antonio, TX on August 23rd, 2023. Police say the incident happened around 9:10 p.m. According to investigators, a Toyota Sienna operated by a 54-year-old driver was involved in a collision with a Chevrolet Silverado that occurred under unclear circumstances. After speaking with those involved, officers allege the Toyota was traveling at a high rate of speed prior to colliding with the Silverado. Authorities also allege the driver of the Toyota may have been under the influence at the time of the crash and sources indicate a DWI charge was recommended and/or issued. The driver of the to the Silverado, identified as 7-year-old Ascension Insurriaga, had suspected serious injuries. A 14-year-old passenger in the vehicle is believed to have also been seriously injured while a 7-year-old passenger was evaluated for possible injuries. Additional information was not available.
