What Happened

Texas Department of Public Safety officials are investigating a crash that injured a person at Business 290 in Hempstead, TX on November 8th, 2021. Police say the incident happened around 6:22 p.m. A tractor-trailer operated by a 46-year-old Hempstead man was reportedly attempting to reverse into a private lot while blocking travel lanes. An approaching Lexus GX operated by 26-year-old Austin Verrett then collided with the rear of the truck, suffering serious injuries in the process. The Hempstead man was not injured.
