What Happened

Corpus Christi Police are investigating a crash that killed a man at Hwy 37 and Carbon Plant Rd in Corpus Christi, TX on August 20th, 2023. Police say the incident happened around 3:26 a.m. According to investigators, a vehicle  operated by 25-year-old Alan Mendoza is alleged to have been traveling southbound in a northbound lane of travel. The vehicle ended up colliding with a second vehicle, leaving an occupant of the second vehicle, 25-year-old Benjamin Schneider, with fatal injuries. A second occupant of the same vehicle, identified as 33-year-old Michael Schneider, was hospitalized with injuries believed to be life-threatening in nature. Officers allege suspicion of intoxication by Mendoza. Additional information was not available.
