Authorities have information on a collision that killed one person involved at FM 1651 in Van Zandt County, TX on July 4th, 2024. Officials are saying the incident happened around 9:23 p.m. According to investigators, a BMW 750 was headed eastbound on FM 1651, approaching a pedestrian attempting to retrieve a dog in the roadway. The vehicle is said to have struck the dog before veering to the right in an attempt to avoid striking the pedestrian. While doing so, reports say the vehicle collided with a second pedestrian who was standing behind the first pedestrian. Following the impact, reports claim the vehicle left the scene. The pedestrian who was struck, identified as 39-year-old Brooke Weatherford, was fatally injured, reports say. The driver of the BMW, who was not located, was located the following day and charged with Failure to Stop and Render Aid. Additional information was not available.
