What Happened

Area authorities are investigating a crash that injured three people at US 69 in Angelina County, TX on December 4th, 2021. Officials place the accident happening around 8:37 p.m. Investigators believe a BMW operated by a 35-year-old Lufkin man was headed northbound on US 69 behind pickup truck towing a boat in an outside lane. The BMW is said to have failed to control its speed and struck the boat, causing it to lost control and veered into the southbound lanes. It then struck a Ford Explorer operated by 56-year-old Steven Clark, casing the Ford to lose control and overturn. Clark and his passenger, 51-year-old Cara Clark, both suffered injuries believed to be non-life-threatening. The Lufkin man was more seriously injured. Responding officers believe the man consumed alcoholic beverages prior to the crash.
