What Happened

Texas Department of Public Safety officials are investigating a crash that injured two drivers at TX-21 in Houston County, TX on September 24th, 2021. Police say the incident happened around 4:30 a.m. A Dodge Caravan operated by 26-year-old Carlos Uriel Ibarra Rivera was headed northeast on TX 21 while a Chevrolet Silverado was headed southwest on TX 21. At some point, the Dodge is said to have veered into the path of the Silverado and both vehicles collided. The Silverado driver suffered minor injuries while Rivera was more seriously injured. Responding officers allege there was reason to believe that Rivera may have been drinking prior to the crash. The Silverado driver was charged with Possession Marijuana and No Safety Belt.
