Police say the incident happened around 12:34 p.m. According to investigators, a motorcycle operated by 30-year-old Charles Ellis Henderson was southbound, approaching a Volkswagen Tiguan stopped, waiting for traffic to clear to turn onto Shady Hill Lane. Police say the motorcycle allegedly went left in order to avoid striking a Volkswagen before sideswiping the vehicle and veering into a northbound lane, striking a tractor-trailer. Police say Henderson suffered serious injuries in the crash while the other drivers were not injured. Additional information was not immediately available.
