What Happened

Area authorities are investigating a crash that killed a child at US Hwy 79 in Jewitt, TX on July 6th, 2022. Police say the incident happened around 12:20 p.m. According to investigators, a Dodge Ram was headed southbound before it collided with a  tractor-trailer under unclear circumstances. Investigators say reports indicate the truck failed to yield right of way to the Dodge. A 10-year-old child in the pickup truck died at the scene. Three other children, ages 11, 8 and 7, were hospitalized with serious injuries. Additional information was not immediately available.
