What Happened

Area authorities are investigating a crash that killed one person involved at State Hwy 224 in Hunt County, TX on August 20th, 2023. Police say the incident happened around 11:45 a.m. According to investigators, a Dodge Ram 3500 operated by a 46-year-old Greenville man was northeast on Hwy 224 before allegedly leaving its lane of traveling and going into a southwest lane. From there, police say the vehicle veered back towards its lan as a Nissan Versa operated by 78-year-old attempted to avoid colliding with the vehicle. While doing so, the Dodge collided with the Nissan, causing it to overturn onto its side into a south bar ditch. Dawson suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased at the since. Officials say the Greenville man had non-life-threatening injuries and sources indicate a Failure to Drive in a Single Lane charge was recommended and/or issued.
