What Happened

Texas Department of Public Safety officials are investigating a collision that killed a pedestrian at Veterans Memorial Dr in Harris County, TX on February 18th, 2022. Police say the incident happened around 7:15 p.m. Investigators say a Chevrolet Silverado operated by a 38-year-old Houston man was headed northbound on Veterans Memorial Dr as a pedestrian was crossing the roadway outside a marked crosswalk. Investigators allege the pedestrian, identified as 39-year-old Daniel Cuc, failed to yield right of way and was struck by the Silverado. He was taken to an area hospital where he was pronounced dead from his injuries. Police allege that blood tests revealed the presence of alcohol in Cuc's system at the time of the collision.
