What Happened

Area authorities have information on a crash that killed three people, including an officer, at Loop 1604 in San Antonio, TX on September 26th, 2021. They say the incident happened around 1:30 a.m. A vehicle operated by 17-year-old Elijah James Montalvo is accused of traveling at a high rate of speed when it ran a red light and collided with a second vehicle. Two people in second vehicle died at the scene and a third died after being transported to an area hospital. They were identified as 37-year-old Odessa Police sergeant Daniel Valenzuela Jr, his 69-year-old father Daniel Valenzuela Sr and 84-year-old Andrea Iglesias Uvalle. A fourth occupant was hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries. Montalvo was arrested and charged with three counts of Intoxication Manslaughter and one county of Intoxication Assault.
