What Happened

Lubbock Police are investigating a crash that killed a motorcyclist at US 84 in Lubbock County, TX on September 20th, 2024. Police say the incident happened around 9:30 p.m. According to investigators, a Yamaha motorcycle is said to have been headed eastbound before colliding with a Chevrolet pickup truck in a center lane. Reports say the truck was handing over a left lane at the time of the collision, ejected the operator of the motorcycle from the vehicle. The operator, identified as 49-year-old Danny Adam Vasquez Sr, was fatally injured. The other driver, identified as 60-year-old Dane Lay Powell, was charged with Intoxication Manslaughter, reports say. Additional information was not immediately available.
