What Happened

Authorities have information on a crash that injured at least one person at FM 344 in Smith County, TX on June 19th, 2024. Police say the incident happened around 4:30 p.m. According to investigators, a Chrysler Town & Country was southbound on FM 344 prior to allegedly failing to control its speed and colliding with the rear of a Toyota Prius stopped and waiting to turn. The impact is said to have pushed the Toyota into an opposing travel lane where it collided with the side of a Honda Accord. Reports say the drivers of the Honda and Chrysler were un injured while the drover of the Toyota, identified as 82-year-old David Gunter, was seriously injured. Reports also claim the driver of the Chrysler was charged with Failure to Control Speed.
