Texas Department of Public Safety officials are investigating a crash that injured a driver at Elm St in Bertram, TX on March 2nd, 2023. Police say the incident happened around 1:40 p.m. According to investigators, a Ford F-150 operated by a 14-year-old Bertram girl is was in a private parking lot, the teen said to be practicing parking at the time. Police allege the vehicle went into a reverse rather than park, reversing out of the parking lot and striking a Chevrolet Silverado headed eastbound on Elm St. The Chevrolet operator, identified as 66-year-old David Lee Giles Jr, suffered suspected serious injuries. The occupants of the Ford, including a 17-year-old and 55-year-old, were reportedly uninjured. Additional information was not available.
