What Happened

Police are investigating a crash that killed a driver at I-69E in Brownsville, TX on September 8th, 2024. Police say the incident happened around 10:41 p.m. According to investigators, an Infiniti Q60 was southbound on Frontage Rd before allegedly leaving its lane of travel for unclear circumstances. The vehicle is said to have struck a curb before hitting a nearby TXDoT sign before heading southbound and rolling. It was next struck by an approaching Hyundai Kona, operated by 22-year-old Kayla Olvera. Olvera suffered possible, undisclosed injuries, reports say. The other driver, identified as 20-year-old Denis Pineda, was fatally injured. Additional information was not available.
