What Happened

Texas Department of Public Safety officials are investigating a crash that injured several people at  US 83 in Laredo, TX on January 29th, 2022. Police say the incident happened around 11:01 p.m. A Ford F-350 operated by a 64-year-old Laredo man reportedly failed to control its speed and collided with a Chevrolet Suburban stopped behind other vehicles in a turn lane. The impact pushed the vehicles into the other vehicles, creating a chain reaction collision. The driver of the Suburban, 47-year-old Dora Cantu, was seriously injured. Her passenger, 69-year-old Sylvia Capetillo, was also seriously injured. The driver of another vehicle, 33-year-old Juan Villarreal Jr also suffered serious injuries as did a passenger, 35-year-old Margarita Hernandez. The Laredo driver was evaluated for possible injuries.
