What Happened

Texas Department of Public Safety officials are investigating a crash that killed one person at US 175 in Henderson County, TX on October 16th, 2021. Officials say the incident happened around 9:54 p.m. A Chevrolet Silverado operated by 28-year-old Dyland Ray Fortner was reportedly going westbound on US 175 when it veered from the road. Investigators believe the vehicle over-steered while trying to course correct and veered into a median during a side skid. The truck rolled to the right and went airborne, landing on its left side and pinning Fortner when he was partially ejected. He suffered fatal injuries at the scene while his 25-year-old passenger suffered minor injuries. Police say the passenger told them that Fortner had allegedly consumed alcohol prior to the crash.
