What Happened

Austin Police are investigating a crash that killed a person at FM 2222 in West Austin, TX on December 29th, 2021. Police say the incident happened around 8 a.m. A northbound F-150 was reportedly struck by a solid waste truck under unclear circumstances. The truck was pushed over a concrete divider into southbound traffic and hit a Ford Escape. The drivers of the F-150 and garbage truck were hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries. The driver of the Escape, 27-year-old Egypt Catai West, died at the scene. Additional information was not immediately available.
