What Happened

Texas Department of Public Safety officials are investigating a crash that injured a driver at I-30 in Mount Pleasant, TX on August 25th, 2021. Police say the incident happened around 7:55 a.m. A tractor-trailer operated by a 39-year-old Poplar Bluff, MO man was traveling westbound on I-30 when the truck lost control and began to fish tail. It then jackknifed and the trailer veered into eastbound lanes causing a Ford F-250, which was towing a trailer, to strike it. It then overturned, causing serious injuries to 35-year-0ld Elijah Olivarez. His 52-year-old passenger, Pete Morales, suffered minor injuries as did the Poplar Bluff man. Police issued the Poplar Bluff man a charge for Failure to Control Speed.
