What Happened

Texas Department of Public Safety officials are investigating a crash that injured a driver at TX 63 in Newton County, TX on June 29th, 2021. Police say the incident happened around 7:05 p.m. A Chevrolet Tahoe operated by 56-year-old Eric Scott Sr reportedly veered from the road and attempted to correct back onto the road. It then overcorrected and veered into a large pine tree, causing Scott serious injuries. Responding officers say that an open container of alcohol was found in Scott's lap as they arrived and he was taken to an area hospital for treatment.
