Texas Department of Public Safety officials are investigating a crash that injured four people at US 79 in Leon County, TX on August 9th, 2021. Police say the incident happened around 7:14 p.m. A Ford F-250 operated by a 30-year-old Palestine, TX man was headed northbound on US 79 as traffic ahead began to slow. The Ford swerved to avoid to stopped cars ahead and ended up colliding with the rear of a tractor-trailer that was performing a right turn. Four people in the Ford, including the driver, suffered serious injuries. Police charged the driver with Failure to Control Speed to Avoid a Collision.
