What Happened

Authorities are investigating a collision that injured at least two people at US 83 in McAllen, TX on January 1st, 2025. Police say the incident happened around 4:41 a.m. According to investigators, a Nissan Sentra allegedly failed to control its speed before it collided with a Dodge Charger that was slowing down for traffic. The driver of the Nissan, who reportedly had been drinking and was not publicly identified, sustained serious injuries and was charged with intoxication assault. The Dodge was occupied by 23-year-old  driver, Heidy Guevara and two child passengers, ages 2 and 8. The 8-year-old sustained serious injuries, while Guevara and the 2-year-old suffered possible injuries. Additional information was not available.
