What Happened

Area authorities have information on a crash that injured two people at West Birch St in Canadian, TX on January 23rd, 2022. Police say the incident happened around 9:05 p.m. Investigators allege a Ford F-250 operated by 32-year-old Joshua Blake was headed eastbound when it lost control at a curve in the road. Police say the vehicle had allegedly been traveling at a high rate of speed prior to losing control and once it veered form the road it, it struck a guardrail and light pole before striking a nearby building. Police allege Blake fled the scene on-foot, leaving behind his 42-year-old passenger Jamie Shumway, who was seriously injured. Responding officers allegedly found open alcoholic beverages in the vehicle.
