What Happened

Authorities are investigating a crash that killed a woman at FM 1409 in Liberty County, TX on May 21st, 2024. Police say the incident happened around 3:40 a.m. According to investigators, a Toyota Corolla was traveling at a curve in the roadway prior to losing control. While attempting to regain control, authorities say the vehicle overcorrected and went into a skid before traveling into a west ditch and striking a tree. A passenger in the vehicle, identified as 44-year-old Jennifer Deshayes, was hospitalized with injuries she later died from. The driver, identified as 45-year-old Tonya Freeman was hospitalized with serious injuries, authorities say. Additional information was not available.
