What Happened

Area authorities are investigating a trench collapse accident that killed two people at I-35 Frontage Rd in Jarrell, TX on June 28th, 2022. Police are saying emergency crews were called to the area around 8:40 a.m. The incident involved a trench being dug around a sewer line at a new home build collapsing as workers were inside. Reports indicate the trench was around 24 feet deep. One individual was found deceased around 4 a.m. A second was located around 6 a.m. on June 29th. The victimes were identified as 20-year-old Jimmy Alvarado and 39-year-old Jose Vargas Ramirez. Authorities were not yet able to say how the trench collapsed but confirmed there were at least two fatalities.
