Area authorities are investigating a crash that killed a driver at FM 563 in Liberty County, TX on November 14th, 2023. Police say the incident happened around 8:42 p.m. According to investigators, a GMC Sierra was southbound behind a Chevrolet Equinox operated by 75-year-old John Godfrey. Reports say the Chevrolet was slowing to make a left turn into a private lot when it was struck by the GMC as it allegedly attempting to go around the vehicle. The crash left Godfrey with fatal injuries. The other driver, who was not publicly identified, was uninjured, police say. Reports show an Intoxication Manslaughter charge was recommended and/or issued against the driver of the Sierra.
