What Happened

Area authorities have details on a two-vehicle crash that injured several people at US 57 in Frio County, TX on January 1st, 2022. Investigators believe the incident happened around 3:29 a.m. A Jeep Cherokee operated by a 30-year-old Eagle Pass man is said to have been headed southbound on US 57 in an area that was dimly lit. A Kia Rio operated by 56-year-old Jorge Perez was struck by the Jeep after police say it crossed a solid double yellow line divider before it veered from the road into a ditch. Perez was seriously injured while his three passengers, including 34-year-old Matthew Perez, suffered less serious injuries. The Eagle Pass man was also seriously injured and issued several charges including Failure to Drive in Single Lane, No Driver's License-When Unlicensed and Failure to Maintain Financial Responsibility.
