What Happened

Texas Department of Public Safety officials are investigating a crash that injured a person at FM 1405 in Chambers County, TX on December 15th, 2021. Police say the incident happened around 5:30 a.m. A tractor-trailer operated by a 50-year-old Moundridge, KS man was headed southbound on FM 405. A Ford F-150 operated by a 410year-old Baytown man was headed eastbound TX 99 as well as a motorcycle operated by 49-year-old Jose Cortina. The tractor-trailer is said to have been traveling at a speed unsafe for the foggy weather conditions and went past a stop sign that may not have been easily visible due to the fog. It collided with the Ford which was pushed into the motorcycle, causing Cortina serious injuries. The other drivers were not injured. Records indicate the Moundridge man was issued an Unsafe Speed citation and Disregarding Stop Sign citation.
