What Happened

Texas Department of Public Safety officials are investigating a crash that injured people involved at Hwy 10 in Orange County, TX on July 13th, 2022. Investigators say around 3 p.m. a Dodge pickup truck performed and evasive action maneuver to avoid striking a road hazard. The action caused the vehicle to strike a nearby BMW which caused that vehicle to strike a nearby tractor-trailer. The impact from that collision caused the truck to veer into a concrete barrier and catch fire. The tractor-trailer driver, identified as 46-year-old Jose Osorto-Maldonado, was hospitalized with undisclosed injuries. The BMW driver, 72-year-old Betty Nichols, was also hospitalized. Police say the Dodge driver, 69-year-old Eugene Breaux, was not injured. Additional information was not available.
