What Happened

Texas Department of Public Safety officials are investigating a multi-vehicle collision at  State Hwy 85 in Dimmit County, TX on December 21st, 2021. They say the incident happened around 2:50 p.m. A tractor-trailer operated by a 51-year-old Falls City man was headed eastbound on TX 85 when, according to investigators, it failed to control its speed during a left turn. It then collided with the rear of a Ford F-150 operated by 71-year-old Jose Villareal. The Ford was pushed into a second tractor-trailer in an adjacent lane, causing serious injuries to Villareal. The Falls City man suffered minor injuries while the other driver was not injured. Reports indicate the officers recommended and/or issued a Failure to Control Speed charge.
