What Happened

Authorities have information on a crash that killed one person involved at US Hwy 17 in Brunswick, GA on February 18th, 2025. Police say the incident happened around 6:45 p.m. Investigators say a log truck headed eastbound overturned under unclear circumstances, its cargo spilling onto the roadway. Authorities say one of the logs landed on top of a Mitsubishi Outlander, operated by 33-year-old Joseph William Hickey, who was fatally injured. Two other vehicles also collided with the logs, the driver of one of the vehicles hospitalized with serious injuries. The truck operator, identified as 41-year-old Wendall Monroe Lovell, allegedly faces charges in connection with the crash. Additional information was not available.
