What Happened

Area authorities are investigating a crash that killed a driver at US 77 in Lavaca County, TX on June 8th, 2023. Police say the incident happened around 2:35 p.m. Investigators are saying a commercial truck operated b a 20-year-old Shiner woman was headed northeast on US 77, turning into a private drive. At the same time, a Toyota Rav4 operated by 74-year-old Joy Ann Kroeger was headed southwest on US 77. Officials allege the commercial truck failed to yield right of way during the turn, traveling into the path of the Toyota. The Toyota collided with the truck as a result, leaving Kroeger with fatal injuries. The Shiner woman was not injured, according to police. Additional information was not immediately available.
